"William R Thompson" wrote: http://www.ualberta.ca/EDMONTON/CONT...fairchild.html CF-ATZ flew from 1933 to 1949, then crashed on Lake Aristofats, NWT (with the death of the pilot and one passenger; three other passengers survived). The wreck was recovered in 1980 and restored. It would feel kinda odd to fly a plane that someone else died in. Lots of bomber crews have done it. I'm not sure if this aircraft was restored to flight, or if it was put in the museum (the web site belongs to the Alberta Aviation Museum in Edmonton). --Bill Thompson |

I just received this e-mail from John Stephens at bushplane.com: "Bill: "Thank you for the photo. I have added it to our online database collection of photos as #cbhc0663. This collection can be viewed at http://www.bushplane.com "The aircraft in the photo was actually a Fairchild 91C. This aircraft was built in 1933 and servied with Canadian Airways before being sold to Territorial Air Service in 1941. It crashed in 1949 and was salvaged in 1981. Restored, it is now on display at the Alberta Aviation Museum." |
