Default News server and software

"John M. Martin Jr." writes:

Can you explain a shell account? Thank you!

You get an account on a Unix host computer at Panix. There, you have a
wide array of tools, inclduding news readers, editors, email agents and
such to choose from.

You use a ssh client such as "Putty" and connect to Panix. There you get
a command line. You type 'nn' or another newsreader [there are several
to choose from. You read articles, save those you wish, etc.
