Default Ideal Variometer

I always assumed cruise mode was the appropriate mode while running a
cloud street. Isn't that "cruising"? What tactic are you using, if not
the usual McCready speeds?

I'm with Andy on this, however where I fly (Cambridgeshire, UK) streets
either tend to average fairly weak, so you end up flying somewhere
between min sink and best glide speed to maintain or slowly gain height,
or you're running a convergence line (strong) and going as fast as needed
to stay out of the cloud. In the first case I'd rather have the C4
operating on climb mode (as a TE vario) and at the other extreme neither
the vario mode or its MC setting seem relevant.
