Yes, that was about 10 weeks back from my post.
It may take longer because of the holidays.

I passed my checkride over 2 months ago but have not received the plastic
license yet. Any idea how long it takes?

BTW, I did not mail anything to anyone..The D.E. told me she would be
sending the form in. Is that the norm?

Nasir, I got my card almost 3 months to the day after my checkride.
My D.E. sent in the form, and my temp was a 120 day certificate. I
did notice that I was listed on the FAA pilot database information
page about two weeks before I got the card.

My card arrived a week and a half ago now. I've been told by local
examiners that the FAA's running about 90 days behind. I'm not sure
if different regions would have different delays though.

I checked their website as someone else pointed out, and I searched for
myself. My Student Pilot certificate shows up (basically my medical) on
their site but nothing about the PPL. I guess 2 months is not unusual and
its probably gonna take another month or so.

thanks for the reply!

The D.E. who gave me my checkride (I passed) typed out the form and
handed me the temp license and told me very specifically how long it
might take to get the permanent card. He then counted out the months
and told me to get back to him at such and so a date if I had not
gotten it by then. I forget exactly how long you have before the temp
license expires but 4 months may be close.

I got the plastic card about three months later.

Takes two weeks longer than your patience. Call them and they will
tell you what "issue" date they are processing. That will give you an
idea how long it will be. They say they are doing 31st OCT 2003 now
Took me almost 90 days. Your temporary is good for 120.

From the FAA FAQ

Normally, it takes FAA about six to eight weeks to process and send a
permanent license(certificate). You can check on-line at
http://registry.faa.gov/airmen.asp to see which dates we are currently
processing. If we are currently processing certificates we issued
later than yours, submit an inquiry through
http://registry.faa.gov/amfeed.asp. You can also call the FAA's Airmen
Registry at 405-954-3261.
