Found out more, of course, but the interesting part was deeper in the article: "Hamburger Flugzeugbau was an aircraft company, located in the Finkenwerder quarter of Hamburg, Germany. The company was established in July 1933 as a subsidiary of the Blohm & Voss shipyards as part of the German Nazi re-armament program. It would be towed to altitude above bomber formations by a Bf-109 and then released to fire two 30mm cannons while diving. While several prototypes were built, it never went into production and crews regarded it as something of a suicide weapon... |
