Default Pilot walks away from crash near Manchester, NH airport

Turned on the TV this morning and caught breaking news of Embraer 100
crash near (1 mile north) of KMHT. The pilot walked out of the
wreckage moments before it exploded. Local news reported that the plane
took off and immediately requested an emergency landing. Witnesses
report one engine was out. One fellow (claiming some knowledge about
aircraft) said he noted that one prop was not spinning, and he said it
sounded like he was full throttle at that point. He also said the
plane was one wing low on a 45 degree angle. The plane crashed at
7:20am, five minutes after declaring the emergency.

Winds were reported calm at the time, but were NW yesterday and are NW
now. I'm guessing (?) he took off from RWY 35, and was attempting to
return to RWY 17. One witness hypothesized that the pilot may have
attempted to set down in the Walmart parking lot where he crashed.

If it had to hit a store, I'm glad it was Wal-Mart.

Me too!

Did you notice it was the second crash in NH involving this same freight
carrier this year? The guy that got killed in January was operating IFR
in really soupy conditions and ran into a mountain a little north of this
incident. Weird.

Absolutely! What right do those poor people have to buy mittens for
their kids, after all?

Let them go to L.L. Bean!

My checkbook was stolen in December. I immediately closed the account.
Wal-Mart accepted a check for $500 a month later and went after me when it
bounced. I said I would fax them a copy of the police report. They said that
I *MUST* send them a notorized affidavit from my bank or they would turn it
over for prosecution.

Let the kids buy their mittens at Target. They were polite.

Did someone try to pass one of your checks at Target as well?

Criminal!

How could anyone be so dastardly as to try to collect on a bounced
check?

All the Wally-Marts around here run your check through as an electronic
debit, it would not have been accepted at all on a closed account.

Heck, half of all pilots shop at Walmart. In fact, half of
America shops at Walmart.
