I attend a FAA safety meeting today and one of the speaker was from the
McAlester AFSS. She talked about the rollout of the FS21 system http://www.afss.com/news/. The FSS's will be closed and consolidate into the hubs start on the east coast and move west across the country. The McAlester AFSS will close 14 May 2007 and it functions move to the Fort Worth hub. It seems to me that by May all FSS phone numbers east of Oklahoma will be disconnected. In May I'll be forced to used 1-800-WX-BRIEF (992-7433). I went to http://www.afss.com/ and did not see any of the great services that Lockheed Martin said they would provide. The front page was last updated 10/4/2006 9:15:27 AM. Lockheed Martin doesn't seem to be keeping us informed. GeorgeC |
