Remain over night?

Thank you kind sir. Keep forgetting that some of the acronyms used for years and years are not common knowledge anymore. Guess I should spell out for the neophytes? We always sent an RON (remain over night) message every night to 'home plate' (home base) so they would know where their airplane was so in an emergency (Pearl Harbor for example) they could recall ASAP.
