The english electric lightning is a firm favourite of mine, when ever we
take the caravan to edinburgh we get the bus into the city, as the caravan site is on a bus route and you can get a bus right at the gates, we got a bus one time which took us near the Gyle, and Ferranti have lightning on display outside on the grass, in a dramatic pose, i allways thought these were small, but when youre up next to one, theyre alot bigger than once thought, besides i've done alot of reading about this plane. I still wouldnt put down the Hunter though, another quality british aircraft, aswell as the victor, and the vulcan and TSR2 and... i could go on endlessly! "John" wrote in message . .. "Giles Ayling" wrote in message ... "Jim Doyle" wrote in message ... "Krztalizer" wrote in message ... Military equipment is made to do a job, not to look good. Then explain the Mosquito! ![]() I guess when you're doing below-rooftop height down some European street, you've got to look the business! - or you may as well be farting around at a much higher alt. Those invasion go-faster-stripes added streetwise style - just ask the boy racers in their Novas! To me, you cant beat the beauty of the Hawker Hunter I see a couple (non flying) everyday, and they still look great Probably the most beautiful jet ever built. It's so Freudian...looks like sex and death! John --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com). Have you ever been to RAF Cosford?
They have the original P1B, and lots of other interesting protos. I'd recomend it! "Giles Ayling" wrote in message ... We won't even go into the pros and cons of the Lancaster. Suffice to say
that by the end of the war, it was carrying twice its original designed bomb-load and doing it well enough for it to still be effective in its assigned tasks. I think the average load was twice that of the B17! |
