Roger,
t's quite common to find them out of order Hmm. I find that extremely rare in my newsreader. -- Thomas Borchert (EDDH) |

fact that the messages/posts do not necessarily appear in the same order on your server or on mine, and a few might not appear at all on some server and/or not be kept there as long as on your server, etc. Another factor: some people use newsreaders that mangle the References header. So their posts don't show up in the correct place in the thread tree. -- Paul Tomblin http://xcski.com/blogs/pt/ The e-mail of the species is more deadly than the mail. |

At one point in the past decade, Jan Michael Vincent got impaired, got
into a car crash and got SERIOUSLY messed up, to the point he nearly died in the crash. The local EMS responded, and he required being intubated (placing a breathing tube in the trachea) to save his life. Based on the premise that no good deed goes unpunished, Jan sued the EMS because he ended up hoarse (dunno if permanent or transient)..ALIVE but hoarse.. This is a common side effect and doesn't imply negligence on the part of the crew, but needless to say, shows what kind of character he has. I wonder if he considered that they could have considered him non-salvageable. Paul, Another factor: That factor we had already covered with the "decently programmed" requirement. There was a guy on one newsgroup I read who consistently broke threading. The X-Newsreader header indicated he used a newsreader that was capable of preserving the References header, but when questioned it turns out he was manually deleting that header (and a few others) because he didn't know what it was for. -- Paul Tomblin http://xcski.com/blogs/pt/ "In My Egotistical Opinion, most people's C programs should be indented six feet downward and covered with dirt." -- Blair P. ![]() "Peter Duniho" wrote in message ... "Roger" wrote in message ... [...] No news reader is going to put those back in order or for the ones whos computer clock is off by a bunch. No news reader can show you posts that haven't arrived at your news server. Yes, come to think of it, I think my posts were still in the correct sequence, but badly off in the time stamp. It really seemed to irk BoB, the curmudgeon! (:-o)) -- Jim in NC |
