If Citroen made a corrugated glider, I would probably own one.

Anyone seen a PIK-5?
In the vintage class, this may not be the prettiest glider of all times? In the early years of our club, one was made (OH-PAX, built during 1948-1952, sold in the early 1960's). Matti |

The 1978 edition of 'Jane's World Sailplanes and Motor
Gliders' by Andrew Coates, does not have any 'ugly' gliders. Some look a lot better than others, but no truly 'ugly' gliders. Ok, the 2-33 comes close, but I won't call it 'ugly.' Maybe a truly 'ugly' glider is one not cared for and not flown. Now, 'ugly' trailers are easier to pick out! Ray Lovinggood Carrboro, North Carolina, USA LS1-d 'W8' |

I saw a Cherokee II on wingsandwheels once. It looked like it was
covered in vinyl siding. I live in the home of the Cherokee and that glider does them no justice. Particularly if you consider that they believe their mountains were created by the wingtips of a great soaring bird. Doug http://www.sailplanedirectory.com/Pl...cfm?PlaneID=56 |

I see in another thread that some are looking for the prettiest gliders, set me thinking, what's the ugliest (and picture links if possible please! Cheers, Malcolm Well if we are going to consider the context in which the particular gliders were designed.. you can correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe the entire PW line (including the PW5) was designed by Engineering STUDENTS in the Warsaw Polytechnic and not by a professional design bureau. PZL and now The Glider Factory in Jezow were/are producing the glider but did not design it. As far as it's two competitors for the world class the SZD-51and the AC4, the Junior is definitely a very pretty and great flying bird, but I don't think the Russia will win any beauty contests (IMHO)... either way, i would rather fly any of these three, or the Cherokee II or the Woodstock for that matter.. instead of sitting here on the ground wishing it was spring ![]() |
