FAA Blessing for Blue Mountain or Rocky Mountain instruments???
Has the FAA officially blessed the IFR or VFR certification of the
altimeter or encoder functionality of either the Blue Mountain or the Rocky Mountain products? I'm looking for an official statement concerning these devices. Thanks Dave |

They have in the past posted on their forum that they have no plans to have their equipment certified. |

The blessing to use these devices in lieu of traditional instruments in a certified airframe? If that is the case, then 601XL's statement fits the bill. If you are looking for blessing to use it in an IFR or VFR capacity in an experimental amatuer built aircraft, none is required. The device need only meet the requirements spelled out regarding timely pitot-static and encoder checks listed in the FAR's and described in the AC's Dave |
