Default Airworthiness Certificate Replacement?

Has anyone ever gotten a replacement airworthiness certificate
document after losing the original? If it's possible, what is the
process?

Send a letter to the Federallies at Oak City, they have a folder on
all aircraft registered in the US. Give then your N number and request
replacement of whatever you lost.

Go to this site:
http://162.58.35.241/e.gov/ND/airrecordsND.asp

Enter you N-number and serial number. For $10 the FAA will send you a
CD (or paper) of every registration and airworthiness record they have
on the plane.

Does the "paper" version of that include the appropriate printed
document to go in the aircraft?

Go to your local FSDO/MIDO with copy of registration and your other
stuff like log book
and they can issue you one on the spot.
Easily done- I did it 2 wk ago.
They may ask you to get the file, but usually not. They can confirm
certificate type from their
database.
Give 'em a call, I've had excellent service from our local guys.

Thanks. I'm asking for a friend. She tried that at her local FSDO.
They don't know squat. They're making her start completely from
scratch, including going all the way back to the manufacturer
(Germany) for documentation. I thought I'd ask here because I just
could not believe that the FAA couldn't look it up and print off
another certificate to place in the aircraft. The registration and
airworthiness are on file and active/valid.

Well, it turns out she went into the office and got some immediate
help from a different person. They gave her what she needed right
away.

Thanks,
Dave
