Aerobatic glider MDM-1 FOX

The two-seater MDM-1 FOX GFRP construction glider has been developed on base of design experience acquired during work with KOBUZ, JANTAR and SWIFT S-1 gliders by the team of Marganski&Myslowski Aircraft Company. Our gliders are one of the best in their cathegory. I'm attaching link with results of 17th FAI World glider aerobatic championships below.

Company produces FOX gliders in three versions, MDM-1 FOX (aerobatic version), MDM-1 FOX P(utility and aerobatic version with removable extended wing tips) and MDM-1 FOX solo (one seater). Company produced 243 FOX gliders.

Wings:

Two-panel, tapered outline of considerable taper. Monospar structure with an auxiliary spar and sandwich type covering. Spar of I-section.

Monoplate air brake extended on upper wing surface only.

Large span, Friese type ailerons of constant chord, split in two panels, mass-balanced, suspended on 7 hinges.

Overlapping spar connection with two horizontal bolts, extending up to rear fittings and also connecting wings with fuselage.

Interchangeable wing tips allowing for extension of wing span from 13980 mm to 16150 mm {i.e. from 45,9 ft to 53,0 ft}.

Fuselage:

Monocoque, sandwich structure with integral fin. Seat pans bonded permanently. Two piece, side hinged canopy opening sidewards to the right.

Total pressure port and air intake for air conditioning are located in fuselage nose. Static pressure ports are located on fuselage sides.

Transceiver antenna is located in the fin.

Towing hook is installed in front fuselage part.

Winch-launching hook is installed in front of main undercarriage.

Tail unit:

Stabiliser, elevators and rudder of sandwich structure are aerodynamically- and mass-balanced.

Control systems:

Combined. For rudder and towing hook a cable system is employed, cable/ hydraulic for wheel brake while push rod type system is used for elevator and aileron control.

Spring trimming device is provided in elevator control system. It is operated by means of a lever located at front seat control stick base.

Aileron, air brake and elevator control systems are coupled automatically when wings and elevator are rigged.

Undercarriage:

Faired, fixed undercarriage. Main wheel brake coupled with air brake.

Instrumentlist:
Airspeed indicator 2x 6 FMS 521, 2x Altimeter 4FGH10, 2x Variometer 5StVM10, 2x G-Force meter AM-10, Radio AR6201, side slip indicator QM II, head rest, safety belts, 2x equalising bottle, compass C-2300, front tow release TOST E85, battery 12V/7,2Ah.
Optionally:
C.G. tow release, transportation tail wheel, transportation wing-tip wheel, glider's cover, smoke system, additional battery box in luggage, glass canopy cover.
