My google groups has substantially changed it’s’ look and feel. In addition, I can only post from my iPad mini. If I try to post from computer I get a message that I do not have permission to post. Could anyone guide me on how to get posting pro edges again? I did remove .rec.soaring, and rejoined, but no joy. Thanks in advance.

I had the same issue and I rooted around until I found a button that said "classic Setting" or something like that. Pressed that and it went back to normal. Sorry - I don't remember where it was.

Check to see if you accidentally are going to the mobile version of the site on your computer. Look at the URL at the top of the browser window right after "groups.google.com/forum". If there is a "/m" after that your are on the mobile site. Just delete the /m.

Dunno for sure what is going on with your permission to post, but it sounds like you are not logged in to your google account on your computer. At the upper right of the screen when viewing RAS check to make sure you are logged in to your Google account, and sign in if you are not.

Of course all this applies only to the Google Groups viewer for rec.aviation.soaring. There are other viewers, as has been discussed many times before.

Can you please suggest a few ideas of where you were “rooting around”. Thanks so much

It was one of the top or top right "settings" buttons as I recall.

I just found this posting. Apparently we were shifted into what they call "beta" style:

"If you’re using new Groups, you can go back to classic Groups any time. When you go back to classic Groups, please complete the survey to provide feedback on new Groups.

Sign in to Google Groups.
In the top right, click Settings Settings.
Click Return to classic Google Groups."

When I read this post with a permissions issue my first thought was not about beta/classic but about the Google account being used.

Two ideas:

1) You are not logged into your Google account.

2) You are logged into the WRONG Google account. I have several Google accounts: Personal, work, volunteer org, side business, etc.

Might still be the beta/classic issue but probably not IMHO.
