Default Sigma-tec Vaccuum pump

My one year old Sigma-tec vacuum pump went out the other day, blew a hole in
the case. This unit was supposed to be good for 2000 hours or five years.
The company is going to warrantee it with a standard pump. They said they
made the changes and have the other units on back order waiting for
certification. I guess they are not so good.
I was lucky it happened at an airport where a friend let me fly is V tail
bonanza home. How lucky is that.

Pumps are kind of like light bulbs. They have an average life but the
chance of them failing on the first day is about the same as the
chance of them failing on the 500th hour.
