#JWGC August 6th - hopeful for a contest day US Pilots
A cloudy sky postponed the launches for a 2 hour Area task until 13:00 local, then further delayed several times. Launch finally began at 14:29 local. Tracking for today....

#JWGC August 6th - hopeful for a contest day US Pilots
Per Tony Condon, JP Stewart's crew at about 5pm local:
"Wild day so far here. Daniel and Noah have safely landed and crews are on the way. JP is still up after an impressive save. He did make it into the first turn area. The Germans and one Austrian retreated back to the airfield instead of following the group to a landout. The Germans took a relight but have now returned again. This will make it impossible to have a valid competition day" A lot of effort today by Team US and the other competitors. |

A big line came through right at start time. Good lift along the line but washed everything out behind it. Unfortunately the line did not go to the turn area for Club. They ran it and then glided out into the hole behind. Results were pretty predictable.
The German Team and on Austrian returned to the field and the Germans took another tow about 4:30 PM. They loitered around but it was obvious the day was not going to be valid (especially if they didn't go on task) and they all landed back here. JP Stewart (BC) is still flying. With luck he'll make it home! Noah and Daniel landed out in nice fields and crews are on the way. |

JP finished the task. Too bad we are flying under FAI rules. In the US this would've been a 1000 point day I think.

This day won't be a Competition Day. JP was one of 3 Club Class pilots to make it around. If you'd like to read about it and see a few pix: http://ussoaringteams.org/jp-stewart...-and-pictures/
Also from Noah on this day: http://ussoaringteams.org/noah-reitt...dates-and-pix/ All recent Facebook posts and pics appear on www.ussoaringteams.org Great attempt today by all! #JWGC |
