You mean like unfolding and reading a paper map? No, I mean by having a huge color moving map, and more, in front of your face all of the time. Tony |

Tony V. Exactly. And a moving map display and computer is less work than futzing with a paper chart, etc. The longest time my head is inside the cockpit is when messing with a hard to read PDA. I don't see how WinPilot or SeeYou on this can be any worse than dealing with the same software on a PDA, and I expect it to be quite better becauae of the dramatically improved visibility. Darryl |

For me, having a huge color moving map on the panel would let me interpret it more quickly than the small color moving map on a stalk that I use now, so I'd spend less time looking at it. Using a PDA takes me less time than using something like an LNAV or MNAV, and way less time than using paper maps. -- Eric Greenwell - Washington State, USA * Change "netto" to "net" to email me directly * Updated! When you have a PDA you have three focal length to look at panel, PDA , and Outside. Richard www.craggyaero.com |

Please seehttp://www.craggyaero.com/ultimate.htm*for details. Hi Richard, what is the power used (mA)? Dan Dan, I have measured 1300mA running with a CAI 302 and the backlight setting at full. The Ultimate comes with an adjustable backlight pot and can be adjusted down so the system runs at 800mA or less depending on the brightness you want. Richard www.craggyaero.com |

Well, speaking for myself, I suspect that I'd spend about as much time looking at the display as I spend looking at my IPAQ (less, since it's easier to read); and I'd glance down at it about as often as I glance at the GPS screen in my car. When compared to old-school pencil and paper, I believe that tools like this make cross-country soaring more convenient, safer, and dare I say, even more fun. But that's just me. -Bill -- Posted via NewsDemon.com - Premium Uncensored Newsgroup Service -------http://www.NewsDemon.com------ Unlimited Access, Anonymous Accounts, Uncensored Broadband Access |
