For gliding contest at GatorCity, Florida

the following kit is recommended,
but nothing is required:

Signal Mirror .

WaterproofMatchKit

Flares, either groundstake type or flare gun type

SmokeBombs: Yellow, Orange, or Red
(register your color with contest management)

AntiGator weapons,
blade weapons or sidearms acceptable

Hat with StrobeLite, powered by propellor beanie or

solarcell charging

SnakeBite Kit, including cutting tools and tornaquets

US MilSpec P-38 can opener
and food,
or vienna sausage in pulltop tins

AirHorn, fullsize or miniature

US MilSpec Mosquito Repellant, or DDT - OD

Money, local currencies Script equal to $100

Survival Food addl: Hostess Twinkies,
AtomicFireballs, etc for aggression

Alcohol, to be approved by Contest Committee

Radio optional

Compass optional

GPS and Cell or Sat phones Forbidden, unfair to competition

Maps, the older the better, extra 500 points award
if carrying roadmaps only, and additional extra 500

points for carrying only a Southeast US States Roadmap.


Extra 1000 points Award for hitchhiking back from landout,
carrying your kit or parachute if any, and retrieving
yourself with only one helper. 1000 Points for leaving
cold beverages with Contest Management upon return
before morning of next day after landout.


Playing Cards Aviator type.

Smokes, 2 packs LuckyStrikes and 2 packs Camels provided
with entry fee. Or bring RYO.

Chewing gum, as avail
JuicyFruit, Beemans, and Wrigleys
2 Packs

HighTemp Chocolatebar

PorkRinds, salted and nitrated for chemical balance

Five Dollars in Quarters for telephone,
if you can find payphone and want to bother

Waterpurification Tabs, Chemical, MilSpec

Solarblanket, reflective lt.

Epirb for waterlandings recommended. More swamp water

than dry land over your course is a probability.

Optional:
WaxImpregnated Cardboard Coffin, avail onsite
by prepay of $50
or $100 to wife at time of need.

Seminole Style Bullrush Burial in swamp by natural
processes $50

Airboat hire bodytransport to inner swamp place at
cost plus,
or
for economy
a towed keel-hauled ride
can be shortened by big gators enroute

If heiress wants to take pilot home,
IcePacking of Body in Plastic bags for interstate transport
extra at cost plus. Discount for small bodies, under
130 lbs. Extra charge for bodies over estimated 180
lbs.

You or your crew must obtain your own DeathCertificate,

but we will provide
Notarized Affidavit of Demise

Jim,
In Australia, the treatment for snakebite has changed in the last 20
years or so.
It has been shown that snake venom mainly travels in the lymph system
rather than the blood stream, so the current treatment is to apply a
firm pressure bandage over most of the limb concerned (not to the
point of cutting blood flow), and then get to medical help for an
anti-venine shot. Cutting the bite actually makes it worse, as it
does provide a greater chance to get venom into the blood stream.
Check with your snake-bite experts in USA, as the treatment may have
changed there also.
