Bleeding LS4 wheel brake hydraulic system
Does anyone have any experience of bleeding the hydraulic system that
activates the LS4's wheel brake? I have heard a suggestion that it is necessary to unbolt the master cylinder and hold it in a vertical position in order to expel all the air from the system. Is this really true? Also, does anyone know whether any particular type of brake fluid is recommended or would something off the shelf be OK? Any hints or tips would be really helpful. Many thanks. David Starer LS4 Hydraulic? Just cables on ours. If it's a modification - all bets are off. Caution he if it's made to use Aircraft brake fluid (Mil 5606), putting automotive Dot 3 or Dot 4 in it will turn the seals to goop. If it's made to use automotive Dot 3 or Dot 4, putting 5606 in it will ruin it quickly. Easy to tell them apart. 5606 is very red and has a strong odor which is nothing like automotive. The other option is to competely purge and clean the brake hydraulic system and run DOT 5 silicone based automotive brake fluid. |
