Question of the day
A given glider is at level flight, IAS= 100 knots. After
a pull-up, will itachieve more height gain with 100 liters (100 kgs) of ballast than withempty ballast????Assuming the glider with ballast stalls at exactly100 knots, the unballasted glider will clearly gain morealtitude during the pullup. Any ballasted glider will have more angle-of-attack and therefore more drag than the same unballasted gliderat the same airspeed. The unballasted glider climbshigher.Mark |
