Seems to be existing only on paper so far. Calling it a Duo ASG-29 doesn't sound innovative so they stuck with their very German and uncool letter-number combo. Smart move to try and capture some of the 20m class business dominated by the Duo Discus.
Agree with Paul: lovely new glider!

Pictures of the nearly complete fuselage. Note the split canopy like on the -21. "Garages" for bug wipers.

This will be the Arcus challenger, competition is good. Electric sustainer announced.

At a convention a decade ago, I asked the AS guy why they didn't build a
glider like the Duo. His response was "But who would buy it?" I guess
they have finally figured out that there is a market for this type of
glider.

"Duo ASG-29"? Glider named like that would NOT capture any business at all... That uncool letter-number logic goes back to KA-1.

Heck as a proud Ka-6 driver I kinda like the AS naming convention. Very
ordentlich :-)

Hi Dave,

Are you thinking of the open class ASH 30 Mi?

I learned about the ASG 32 from a post by Rene de Dreu yesterday showing
photos of the ASG 32 being prepared for its debut at the Aero.

Interesting that the brochure lists the pure sailplane and the self launcher max gross weight at 1874 lbs (850KG). I didn't think the LBA allowed pure sailplanes to be certified to above 750KG. Maybe this is just an early brochure oops?

Hey guys,

before we get something mixed up he I saw the fuselage of the first ASG 32 Mi yesterday at Aero exhibition in Germany. It is basically the same fuselage as the ASH 30 except the tail. The wings will be completed in summer, first flight will be next year.

As the ASG 32 will be a flapped glider, it is surely supposed to compete with the Arcus and not with the Duo.

Concerning the ASH 30 which flew in 2011, AS says that the certification process was delayed due to a failed cockpit stress test. They wanted to make sure the whole glider is fully certified before selling more of them as they did not want to have them airborne just with a permit-to-fly. Number four will be delivered soon.

Bye, Helge
