Default LED Light Strips?

Has anyone put a set of LED strips under the glareshield? They are
usually 12v, dimmable, and relatively cheap. Our 79 Warrior has
crappy panel lighting and thought putting up a length of red LEDs
strips with some sticky tape and plugging in with cig/power adapter
would be an easy way to light up the instruments.

I'd check your panel light bulbs first. When I took off the panel cover to
see what was doing on my 78 Warrior, I found a few dead light bulbs and the
ones that were working were covered by a less-than-semi-transparent blue
rubber cover. After getting a few bulbs at the local RadioShack and taking
off the blue covers, my panel lighting became adequate once again. I also
have the overhead red light that provides good panel coverage as well.

There are companies that make great bezzel lights. We installed them
in our Mooney. Every gauge now looks like its backlit.

Sorry...I should have mentioned that a) I've already removed the blue
condoms, replaced dead bulbs, etc. and b) I've looked at nulites,
bezels, and a dozen other upgrades. I was just wondering if anyone
had gone the LED strip route and can provide a PIREP.

I have the led strip on my Comanche. It provides a nice wash of light
across the panel, but IMO it isn't enough to use for instrument
illumination on its own.

Hope this helps.
