Default Seniors Contest

Preliminary Scores have been posted for Friday, 13 MAR. And an
unlucky Friday the 13th it is, if you fly the expensive super
gummisegelflugzeugenthingies. For out in front was an "old" and
"outdated" LS1-f. First place today for Sam Giltner in his finely
tuned aircraft from the "Flying Blind" company. With his first place
finish, he draws closer to the lead as his score puts him in second
place overall.

ONE MORE DAY!

COME ON SAM!

Ray, you do realize we have to race against this guy, don't you? Cripes,
he had raw speed better than some folks flying
Ventus/Discus/AS-whatevers.

Sam's is CD'ing the Cordele contest. Please tell me this means he won't
be competing!

Yea, I believe he won't be competing at Cordele, Georgia, USA, since
he will be the Contest Director. But even if he did fly the contest,
I wouldn't mind flying with a two-time National Champion. And, he
would be flying a similar glider, an LS1-f, versus my LS1-d. Not a
Duo Discus, not a Ventus, not an ASG-29, and not the super ship of all
time, the Hanle H-301 Libelle. Those flapped, low tail, drogue chute
equipped, grand venting bubble canopy, pinched-egg cross section
fuselage terrors just can't be beat.

Any word on today's results? There's an initial report on SSA by John
Good indicating excellent conditions. I'm curious to see if the better
conditions and higher speeds sets Sam back in the LS1f.

LATEST:
Seems they "hold" the final scores to announce at the banquet tonight....I
find this ridiculous but I got no say! Talked with Sam earlier
tonight....Karl won the day and, of course is champ. Sam got low on first
leg and lost a few minutes and Ken (KM) aced him out for second overall and
Sam is third (about 5th or more for the day). Good contest. Sorry I could
not stay for the whole thing.

Ed,

Thanks for the news.

"Holding the scores?"

Say it ain't so! Ah geez. That's really lame.

Oh, by the way, in one of the college basketball tournaments today,
the ACC semi-finals, UNC played Florida State and Maryland played
Duke. Final scores are being held to build suspense for the final
game to be played tomorrow (Sunday). Winner of the semi-finals will
be announced five minutes before the finals are set to begin. Don't
change that channel!

Ray:

CM a contest and let the scores go out before the banquet. Then let me
know whether you have a new perspective on the topic

Other sports do this, and it's a lot more fun than watching any kind
of basketball, especially when you're a contestant on site.

Tuno,

I don't understand and yes, maybe I would if I were to CM a contest.
But no, I still can't wrap my minuscule mind around the concept of not
posting scores as soon as they are available and as soon as internet
service is available.

Regarding posting the scores, may I make a proposal?

If the scorer can't upload the scores due to lack of internet service,
why not use a telephone, call someone who does live in internet land,
and say, "Hey Bob, the top three finishers for today were X, Y, and Z
in 18m and W8, B, and C in Club Class Would you please post this
information on RAS (or even some pre-arranged deal with SSA to post to
their website.) Scores have been computed and will be posted when we
get internet service restored."

Or, "Hey Bob, please post to RAS (or, again, to the SSA website), that
we didn't fly today due to weather (or a called rest day.)"

How hard would that be? Just throw us a bone out here and let us
know, briefly, if you flew or not, and maybe the top three finishers
for the day, AND LET US KNOW YOU WILL POST THE SCORES AS SOON AS THE
INTERNET (OR WHATEVER) IS BACK UP!!!

It's just frustrating in this day and age when no timely information
is provided. NONE, NADA, ZIP.

Surely, there's a way to get some type of short message out quickly
("Tweeter"???)

Respectfully,
