The "initial proposal" that I'm aware of I read about in Av Week in August
1981, my first month in B-52G IQC at Castle. The idea has been around a
looong time.

Yeah, same thing as now. Proposal was for using a CFM-56 variant IIRC.

Okay - how about a twin-engined B52 using two of GE's 115000 pound
thrust engines? If that's not enough push, put ABs on them. (G).
