CAR 605.27(3)
$175 monetary penalty

A commercial pilot operating a Cessna 206 on floats, departed from a
water aerodrome in order to conduct a fire patrol. During the flight,
the pilot-in-command changed places with another commercial pilot who
was seated on a bench in the back. The pilot-in-command was fined $175
for not complying with the regulation that requires that at least one
pilot is seated at the flight controls with their safety belt fastened
during flight time.

This begs the question, who was seated at the other set of controls?

I wondered how he got caught too. Was there some kind of
legs-in-the-air, Three Stooges thing that was visible from the ground?
Maybe it was just an unimpressed passenger. I can understand how that
might make someone concerned.

CAR 605.27(3):

(3) The pilot-in-command shall ensure that at least one pilot is seated
at the flight controls with safety belt fastened during flight time.
So I guess there was no pilot at the other set of controls.

Me, too.

I still cringe when I recall doing this same thing in a CAR way back in my
teenage years. Yup, a car load of teenagers, riding down the interstate,
and me crawling in back (with the chicks) while the dude in back crawled up
front to drive.

What the hell was I thinking?

That you'd rather be with the chicks than driving!

It's a rite of passage. I would expect that a significant percentage of
males with normal testosterone levels have done just that in their teens.
