Default The logic behind fishmouth vice 30* ?

Looking thru 43.13, I see splices that use fishmouths and I see others
where the outer sleeve is simply cut at a 30* angle.

Can someone discuss the logic of why they use one cut over the other?

fishmouth takes up less linear space on the tube---(fits in a smaller
space) 30° is easier to weld.

I read somewhere, maybe Bingelis, that the fishmouth makes it easier
to weld if the tubing splice isn't a tight fit. Sorry no reference
for that, I just filed it away after reading.

I got a good answer from an instructor who teaches A&P candidates.
Use either one. The fishmouth is for when you don't have enough room.
