My home field has several fat ultralights which will become LSA's if the FAA
ever gets serious about enforcement. Also we have the usual assortment of
Cubs, Champs, etc. More to your point, there was a Tecnam (sp?) in the
pattern this afternoon.

So, yes, there are some LSA's out there, but most of 'em are Older GA types
or illegal ultralights.

Listening to the EAA and the other aviation mags, it sounds like the new
LSA's are selling well, but I can't help but think this is pent up demand
for something new. I can't see that there will be a large market over the
long term for ~$70k airplanes that only go 100 knots when there are plenty
of used airplanes for under $25k that fit the bill.

Lots of homebuilts will fit in the experimental LSA
category. But even at $70-100K, the new factory built LSA
will sell because they will do the job commercially at less
cost than a new Cessna or Piper.

I almost became one, but when my insurance application arrived there
was no check-box for Sport Pilot, so I'm going for my medical today.

Maybe next time!

To rent the Cubs at Hampton NH airfield, we must now carry $60K hull
insurance.

With reference to a recent thread: the bill was $85.
