New EU Subsidy rules good for Gliding?
Have just seen on the news that the EU is changing the farming subsidy rules
from next year, to try and reduce the food mountain I would guess. Now they are going to pay the subsidy regardless of the farmer actually growing anything with the subsidy being based on an average of x past years subsidy. At present the farmer is encouraged to grow unprofitable crops eg Cost to grow £125 per acre Revenue £110 Subsidy £90 Profit £75 In future they will be given the £90 regardless so growing the crop will only result in a loss of £15 per acre. I have been pondering how so many fallow fields will affect us and in principal I think it should be good for us providing the grass doesnt grow too tall. |
