Default ASW-24 Main Wheel Removal

Does anybody know the trick to removing an ASW-24 main wheel. I have
removed the brake caliper and the main wheel bolt. But I cannot get
the main wheel to separate from the main gear trunnion. I talked to
John Murry and he said to remove the aluminum spacer on the left side
of the wheel and then the wheel will come out easily (since the wheel
is keyed in the right side for the brake). I have tried that and I
cannot get just the aluminum spacer to move (it is captured between
the wheel and the trunnion). Any ideas?

Try applying some lateral forge to the gear legs (spread them apart),
don't be afraid to apply considerable fprce. Your legs may be slightly
bent.

I'd have to look again to get the magic incantations, but you don't have
to apply force to get it out. I've had it off a few times - I had the
spacers backwards for a while. It does require some creative zen moves
though.

Cut the lockwire on the 2 bolts on the brake caliber and seperate caliper
halves rather than removing caliper itself.

Once the caliper is off and the axle bolt is out, move the wheel
rearwards untill the spacers are clear of the fork. You can then
remove the spacers and move the wheel down.

Thanks for everyone's reply. I found that not only do you need to
remove the calipers, but there in one bolt that hold the caliper plate
to the landing gear trunnion. Once that bolt (and the axle bolt and
the calipers) are removed the wheel is removed relatively easily.

Lauren
