Default ASW20L?

For those who have experience with the ASW20L, how does it compare to
the A, B and C models when flown without the 16.6m tips? Does it have
the soft wing like the A and C, or is it stiffer like the B's? How
does it fly with the tips on?
Thanks much.

I flew a 20L for many years. The wings were quite floppy and it gave
an excellent ride. I flew with the extended tips very seldom. With
the longer tips the yaw was much more prounouced and you couldn't (or
at least were not supposed to) carry water ballast.

Performance-wise all 20 versions are identical, the 20A, L and C have
the soft wing, only the 20A and L have the 55-degrees flap setting
which I regard as a huge safety feature.

Having only one longer flight in an ASW-20C (which has a slightly
different airfoil) I got the impression that you can circle the C 4-5
kts slower than an L, otherwise there is no noticeable difference
concerning the performance.

Individual 20s can show vast differences concerning performance and
handling, depending on airfoil (its airfoil reacts violently to slight
variations of the leading edge) and CG.

It handles very well and climbs like a homesick angel, but its overall
performance is inferior to the 15m version because you cannot load
water, hence the wing loading is too light.
