Default Region 9 Parowan USA updated update......# 711 reporting

We will be postin a new entry list on or around June 1st. Yes,
their are "some" changes. Those on the standby list will be getting
weekly emails from Micki on their status.

Thanks to all the entrants who have sent Micki their dinner
requests for Saturday, June 30th. We are past 90 and we are expecting
more. If you haven't responded, please do so, as we need a head count
for this cattered dinner. If you, for some reason, didn't get the
dinner planned for Saturday nite, here it be.....

Saturday June 30th, Menu
Roasted Chicken quarters prepared with a cajun or southwestern season
rub.
or Pork Lion Roasted prepared with a southwestern rub.
Grilled Vegtables,
Green salad,
Bread or Rolls,
Assorted Cookies,
Bottled Water and Soda

On June 1st, we will send out an email showing who's signed up
for dinner and whos in their party. If your not on it, please respond
as quickly as you can. Thanks again........we need you to be signed
up.

The contest doesn't require a ELT, but you should seriously
consider having one. Theirs no one in our soaring family whose life is
not worth a few hundred bucks, and thats about how much they cost
these days. It could save your life. I have 2, one for the glider,
another for my chute. I even carry a small strobe, which can be seen
from afar, and it can be found on line at several outlets. If you ever
have to bail out, at these high altitudes, you are going to land very
hard, problay break a leg or 2, and end up in tall brush, and might
not be able to be seen. Think about that. It could happen, be
prepared.
We will be calling task's in all quadrants, and to our east
and north is mountainous terrain, to our west, the great basin. Cell
phones, due to coverage, in certain area's will be useless. I
personally have been on retrieves that took several days, helping
others that have landed out.

Parowan, and our soaring area, does offer excellent soaring. Our
normal altitudes will be 14 thousand to 17 thousand plus feet. Strong
thermals, plus 12-15 kts. require you to rethink thermal exiting
times. Bust 17,500 and U be lossing points. 7V had his best climb he
has ever had, here, in the Parowan area. 7V is Ray Gimmey, many time
National winner and US Team member. Guys and girls ( yes, you Sylvia)
check your oxygen systems, as you will not be needing any surprizes.
For those who wish to come early, we do have towplanes.

Our FBO, Dave Norwood, has ordered an addition 7,000 gals of
avgas. Yes, the price has gone up, big time. But we believe we can
hold the price for the tow at $53. If Dave would not of gone to
extreme measures in planning for our contest, well, what we need, is
all of us to say " Thanks, Dave" when you see him in Parowan.

Also, when you register, please have how many you will have for
the 4th of July BBQ and the awards dinner. Yes, and it will be party
time, on our 4th of July.
Anyone, from anywhere, who wishes to join us, for any of our
nightly dinners, or the 4th of July BBQ, or awards dinner, is warmly
welcome. Just drop us an email, and let us know what night you plan on
visiting. We look forward in having you stop by and also enjoy our
Regional Soaring Championships. Come by, ya hear.

If any entrant knows he or she won't be coming, asap, please contact
Micki or me, as those on our standby list do need some lead time.
