Default Superior Millenium Overhaul

I have been considering a Millenium Overhaul from Penn Yan due to my
perception of value for the $ (new cam, new cyls, and better warrantee
for much less than other OH), but I am nervous about Superior's
warrantee provisions.

I have been warned by two A&Ps to stay away because Superior has fought
every warrantee claim they helped file tooth and nail.

There are also mandatory service provisions on a Millenium Overhaul to
maintain warrantee. I heard that one of them is the owner cannot
perform oil changes (must be done by an A&P), and mandatory oil
analysis.

Anyone know if this is true? What is the "fine print" on the warrantee
that Superior does not provide on their website?

Kind of makes me nervous when a company presents an incredibly good
warrantee, but does not publish the specific owner requirements...

Anyone care to comment?

As those who suffered unrecoverable losses from Katrina just learned
from the Courts, asking a vendor's representative about contractual
limitations means NOTHING!

I did ask PY, and they gave me prompt, good answers, but I still don't
have a copy of Ts & Cs. Also, what do you think their response will be
with regard to Superior honoring a warrantee since they are under
contract to Superior?

I want to read the fine print for myself, or at least get an OWNER's
perspective before laying down $$$.

If you are only going to listen to vendors, then of course you don't
need flood insurance when you have hurricane coverage... Until you
need it, and then the companies will still fight you...

I have not heard this, and I've changed my own oil.

In 2002 we field overhauled our O-540 with all Millenium parts. This
has turned out to be an excellent decision, as it allowed us to dodge a
couple of Lycoming-specific ADs.

After four years and 600 or so hours, the engine burns little oil, has
nearly perfect compression, and starts like a car. We've been very
happy with it.

In other words if PY gave you the details in writing you wouldn't believe it
anyway.
