You could probably have selected a start point for the statistics at
which the altitude was lower than the finish point. That would have
proved that the glider was actually capable of creating energy not
just dissipating it very slowly.

Just an oblique way of saying that flying a glider in rising air does
not change its lift to drag ratio.

Did I say L/D?? Oh my. To quote SeeYou accurately I must say "H/D". A
glider pilot may not be able to change his glider's L/D, but he can
certainly influence his H/D.

A deep bow and tip of the cap to K1 for doing it better than anyone
I've seen.
