Looks like it has a "speed kit" installed: not the landing gear doors.
Also, is this an ex-American Airlines airplane? It has the entry door on
the right instead of the left side which was more typical.

I grew up under the flight pattern at Capital Airport in Sprinfield, IL
- I have the same memeories. In fact, we probably saw each end of the
same flights.

This is the 6th DC-3 built, C/N 1499 ex American Airlines NC16005
"Texarkana". Served in the Army in WW2 as 42-56092 and still exists.

According to DC1, DC2, DC3 the first 70 years it is registered to one
Bob McSwiggan at Fayetteville, Georgia as of 2006. Joe.

As of last month's version of the FAA database, that is still the
case, at 1015 WEDGEWOOD DR
