You really suck now! :-)
ROFL!!! You took the words out of my mouth Jack! I had already typed it but thought Ole Jay may take it the wrong way. Sounds like he had an awesome time and did a great job of it! Jim |

Coming from you? Nah! Besides, he already knows he sucks big time...we just have to remind him of the fact now and then. Technically, it wasn't in flight. Based on where we found the door,
approx 1000 ft. down the runway (DA was 6200 ft so it took a bit longer than usual to commit aviation), we were not yet flying. It was more at the point where you wonder just how long the airspeed indicator is going to take to reach 65 MPH. If it was an in-flight departure of the oil door, I'm sure it would have happened at 12,500 over Lake Tahoe and I'd be whining about having to spend $120+ on a new door. As it is, less than $15 in parts from Spruce and an appointment with my brother the rivet master and I'll be good to go. -- Jack Allison PP-ASEL-IA Student Arrow N2104T "When once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the Earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return" - Leonardo Da Vinci (Remove the obvious from address to reply via e-mail) |

The duct tape is not 100 MPH tape. A buddy of mine was a master chief in the navy, during the 1st Gulf war. Many times an F-18 was sent out with duct tape holding things together. So that makes it what, Mach 1.2 tape? -- Jim in NC |

Parts should arrive from Spruce in the next day or so then it's another week before me, the plane, my brother, and his rivet gun can all be in the same place at the same time. Until then, 100 MPH tape after each time the oil is checked.

Hey Margie, how come no left coasters were invited? How much did Jay
have to pay for the invite? :-) Sounds like a very cool event by the way. The Smithsonian, particularly the air and space museum and Udvar-Hazy center are on the list of places I need to go.

However, there was a cost - sitting on that bale of hay, in bib overalls, and 100 degree heat. :-) Since it was Be A Pilot - Family Day, and you are the Spam Can Allison Clan, maybe you've got a shot in the future. Actually we had all types of aircraft. Tail draggers, Spam cans, tubular
steel and fabric, composite, military, Police, State, production and experimental. Have something interesting for next year?
