Default 5-17 2nd practice day 15 meter nationals Mifflin USA.

Today a backside ridge misson was called. Three Barns and Mill Creek were the
turnpoints. It was a AST. About 96 to 100 miles on how you flew it. The first
starters ran into big trouble near the first turn with many splashing down.
Some at the airport near the turn or others in fields. The later starters heard
of the landings as the ridge had died, and turned to get back near home and
wait for conditions to get better. Well, they did. Within a hour things began
to work again. Fastest speed was 98 mph. Some in the 80"s and alot in the 70"s
as the ridge was weak with winds of 6 to 8 Kts. Mill creek late in the day was
55 kts to just hang onto ridge height. All got home safe. Tonight was the
pilots meeting. Tomorrow starts the first contest day. Water pistols and keys
to the fire engine have been put aside and watering rights have been given to
all who choose to tanker up. Something says this could change, and it will be
posted if it does. About the score of them yankees. If B. Glick has a water
pistol you can rest easy, as it has been told he cann't hit the side of a barn
from 7 feet, more or less a woodchuck. If anyone is here and soars Mifflin,
just ask Butch or any others about this great hunt. The Contest starts
tomoorow. I hope you have enjoyed my postings on Mifflin. Soar high, fly safe,
thermal tight and how I enjoy my Southern Nights. # 711 reporting.

Tom

Don't let Butch and Tom fool you....the difference between Glock's and water
pistopls improves my aim quite nicely. And my peacock feathers are fine,
THANK-YOU!!
