For me, almost a candid camera moment when a pilot gets in, starts looking all around, doing all they can to "peek" under the wing while seated and saying I never knew Sundowners had retracts. My reply, Gear fixed and welded. BTW, lights do light up when you put "the gear down", gadget is hardwired to the ships power. |

To not do so would seem to beg to create some real bad habits. But on the plus side I'll be it is fun to not put it down if there is another pilot in the plane. |

Since this will be my first and last plane I will own AND I don't have complex endorsement (really don't need it for my kinda flying), it's just decor! Yes, I am sure that "those in the know" would be quite disconcerted not to see three green :-) in the pattern. Passengers I take, wouldn't know the difference (thus far!) |

hardwired to the ships power. So since it is there do you slap it down on landing and up on take off. To not do so would seem to beg to create some real bad habits. My Beech Musketeer had this, to. My instructor explained it to me as: "This is a trainer for your Bonanza, so that you remember to put the gear down"! I have a friend who built a RV-6 and does the same thing. Fixed down, but with a gear switch and lights. Treats it like it was real. -- Regards, Ross C-172F 180HP KSWI |

It's not a terrible idea if you fly the fixed gear plane often and the retract only every once in a while or even often. What I think would be a terrible idea is to get in the habit of not throwing the switch because you don't have to. If it is there use it or you just might ignore it when you need it. |
