Too much important stuff happens off screen, and the landing doesn't look real This incident is fake, however Rockwell Collins is currently working on this very subject. The following link has a video showing an F-18 scale model flying with 60 % of the wing missing. http://www.rockwellcollins.com/news/...tolerance.html AFAICT, this incident isn't a fake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_EXtBEaBbs Uh, ok, what part of it is not fake? It's a History Channel dramatization! The video at the end of the aircraft with no wing. The interview with the pilot. I didn't say they showed the incident, I said the incident was a facke. -- Alan Baker Vancouver, British Columbia http://gallery.me.com/alangbaker/100008/DSCF0162/web.jpg |

You can see the video of the model that Rockwell Collins is testing. The software is meant to be implemented in all types of aircraft eventually. Any aircraft with an autopilot and this software will be able to duplicate what only a few lucky people have done. The model is just a test bed to debug the software. Yes I have seen the video of model r/c aircraft that have been landed with only one wing also. These examples are just luck and the power to weight ratio of models. Not to mention the skill of the model operator. |
