Default ALKO running gear

Mechanical brakes in USA would be great but I'm pretty sure it's
impossible to buy them here.

Seems like an obvious business opportunity for someone.

I just looked on their US website and there is no mention of
mechanical brakes. They do have quite a few electric offerings and
one Hydraulic option.

One would think so, but their website does not list any mechanical/
overun brakes. It only shows electric and hydraulic. The UK website
does include references to the overrun drum brakes used by Cobra and
even includes the complete service manual. It does not seem to list
any drum brake axles for sale.

Does the Indiana plant produce the overun mechanical drum brake axles
and only provide them for export?

Perhaps one way to find out would be to contact them with the part
number of an axle as installed on a current Cobra trailer and ask
where one can be purchased.

From an earlier discussion T8 sent my this link:

http://axleinc.com/

They work with ALKO and have a pretty good knowledge of the different
types of solutions.

I have purchased several 2" AL-KO couplers and a hydraulic brake AL-
KO axle from Axle, Inc. The company is easy to deal with. However,
they do not have a mechanical brake option available.
Rex and Noelle always seem to have several AL-KO mechanical brake
axles in stock at Williams. Also just the brakes themselves, which may
be compatible with AL-KO USA axles.
