Default Re Clyinders now okay for badge and records

If you use the cylinder without getting into the sector you get a 1km
ditance penalty for each TP which is more than the distance you save by
using the cylinder.

Sporting Code 1.2.11.

Be aware that A given SOARING PERFORMANCE may use only one type of
OBSERVATION ZONE (OZ). The shape of OZ may be either:

a. a SECTOR OZ (1.2.9),or
b. a CYLINDER OZ (1.2.10).

This OZ may only be used when a FLIGHT RECORDER is used for
verification.

See Sporting Code section 1.1.6.

Well I agree that if you have a PDA displaying the
pie cut...then you save distance/time using that OZ.
But if you are flying with a logger only...then I
suspect you will save time/distance by accepting the
penalty, rather then wandering about using various
techniques to be sure you get into the pie cut.

Can't resist nitpicking: If we are talking 0.5 km radius you can,
in theory, save more than 1 km by using the cylinder.

The difference is really really small though.

And it doesn't apply to OR. There you can save 1 km at the most.

The latest version of TaskNav calculates the 'new'
distance if cylinders are used - cool.
