Default Web based Safety seminar

For many years, NTSB accident reports indicate flying gliders is one
of the most hazardous activities.

The good news is the problems are well known, as are the answers.

The problem is involving pilots in the discussion to reveal the
problems and provide the answers to a large audience.

A series of live, web-based safety seminars, (four hour long
presentations plus time for Q&A are planned) beginning on January 14th
at 11 AM EST are being offered to the soaring community.

Each seminar will be repeated for those in the New Zealand / Australia
time zones.

Basically, you will sign up for the seminar. You will be given a code
to enter on a web site allowing you to watch and participate.

We are planning a live broadcast some days before the first seminar
so you can learn how to log on and participate.

Subject matter will specifically target the obvious safety problems:
launching, landings, and stalling. However, there is a lot more to
talk about, and a lot regarding flight safety that is not necessarily
obvious.

Logging on to the seminar will be easy. Please be sure you and your
friends are receiving this announcement, so they know what and when to
do anything.

There will be a small suggested contribution of only $10 for each
session. A small price to pay for your safety. I believe you will be
able to connect a projector and show it to your club members, and I
expect the honor system for these groups will be in effect.

It will be helpful for those interested in the seminars to subscribe
(free) to our newsletter at www.eglider.org.

On the home page, you will see the obvious box on the right side of
the home page. It will take you to a sign-up page where you will click
on the newsletter box.

More to follow.

That should read - 4, one hour presentations.

Yes - one of the deficiencies of American English (in addition to the
lack of the inclusive "or") is the reluctance to use hyphens. We
Brits would have written it "four hour-long presentations", which
would have been unambiguous.

Report back and let us know how sign-ups are going.

Will these be recorded for those who can't watch live?

Most likely.
There are already safety videos on various subjects done at the FAA
Safety Center in Florida. You will find them on our web site: www.eglider.org

As the great Sir Winston Churchill once remarked, "The United Kingdom and the United States: two countries separated by a common language".
