Default G102 Club III Brake replacement

MGSA's G102 is in need of new brake system--or rebuild for old one. I
have emailed Linder for for info, part numbers, etc,no response so
far. I am told it is a BMW motorcycle brake, from Magura.
I am located in the Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and have sources for BMW
motorcycle parts.

The master cylinder is back behind the seat pan, and not easy to get
to--anybody know any tricks to make it easier?

I would really like the BMW or Magura part numbers, or the the Bike
model, if anyone knows them. Otherwise, I'll have to disassemble and
measure. Being able to remove and replace same day would be nice.

Thanks in advance

I have rebuilt the brake system on a G103A and it is likely the same.
You are correct that the master cylinder is a Magura unit as used on a
BMW motorcycle. You can order a rebuild kit or even a new master
cylinder from a local BMW Motorad dealer. As I recall, it was a common
unit used for several years in the late '70's and early '80's. I
ordered the kit after measuring the bore size - that was the best way
to make sure you get the right one and the dealer will identify it by
that size. The rebuild involves dis-assembly, cleaning, honing of
cylinder, and re-assembly using new seals.

Now, you only need this kit if your master cylinder is not working or
leaking. Try bleeding the brakes first. And interesting note about the
G103A was that the caliper was a Cessna unit! The best way to bleed it
is from the caliper up, not from the master cylinder down. Once tuned
up, you will find that the system is amazingly effective. I like
having brakes and I'm always amazed that most gliders I've flown have
none either by poor design or poor maintenance.
