Default ASW-24 Main Wheel Removal

Does anybody know the trick to removing an ASW-24 main wheel. I have
removed the brake caliper and the main wheel bolt. But I cannot get
the main wheel to separate from the main gear trunnion. I talked to
John Murry and he said to remove the aluminum spacer on the left side
of the wheel and then the wheel will come out easily (since the wheel
is keyed in the right side for the brake). I have tried that and I
cannot get just the aluminum spacer to move (it is captured between
the wheel and the trunnion). Any ideas?
