Default Looking for information VP-46 1958

In the LIFE magazine photo archives , found a set of photos
they show a P5M-1 Marlin of VP-46 0304 sunk in what
the caption sez is Quemoy strait or Quemoy harbor.
Only the tail with the tailcode RC and 0304 , RC makes it
VP-46 ,& Checking the BuNo list it should be BuNo 130304 ship 12
and the prop tips and escape hatchs are above water.
One caption states that the aircraft was hit by chinese fire
and thats all, unable to find any information as to what
when and where.. the photo set is dated Aug 1958

divers are hooking the aircraft up in several photos and
the aircraft is being towed in several others.

US Navy ships attending USS Onslow AVP-48,
