He and his plane were at Sun-n-Fun last year. It took him several
minutes of tinkering to get the thing started, and I would not have missed a
minute of it! I hope he becomes a regular in the Ameriacn airshow scene.

I looked at the photo but do not believe it was a MILITARY aircraft.

Wrong. Used for military and civil training, observation etc.
This was a typical military aircraft of the first generation.

The Bleriot XI used for military opération is the Bleriot XI˛

You could see one of these Bleriot XI˛ in la Ferté Alais near Paris
