Right, it adds a .sys file, a .inf file, and a .pnf file that I believe are
associated with the driver but
for some reason the USB version doesn't show up on the hardware list. I'm
trying to figure out
how to tweak the .inf file (or whatever controls this) to make it show up on
that list. I guess I'm
going to have to learn more about how .inf files are built. I figured that
posting to some computer
newsgroups would get me some hints on how this works, but I have mostly just
gotten flames
from people saying my post is too long [impatient readers I figure ]

Odd that yours would suddenly disappear like that. Sounds more like a
problem with the card
than with Windows. Try doing a hard boot with the unit plugged in. If it's
a UPSAT card or
Trimble, try plugging it into the PC slot without the adapter (they are
PCMCIA cards).

Try a second card too if you have one.

This file is actual added to the windows system. You can download it from
the Jeppesen website. For some reason, the linear flash memory device

won't
show up under device manager or in hardware under PCMCIA flash memory on

my
Sony.

It used to work great until last week on my XP Pro machine, and now

Jeppesen
says it's a windows problem so they can't help me.
