Default Tour of the "Kiwi"

Jay,

Thanks for the last-minute tour of the Kiwi on Friday. I'd have to say
that MS Flight Sim is a lot more engaging on the big screen. Other than
practicing instrument procedures (which I've done a lot), I've never
done much else with simulators because they lack the visual & motion
cues. With the huge screen I think you have cured that. Of course I
still think you need 2 more projectors to put side views on the sides
of the room, and a full-motion hydraulic system would be nice, and I'm
sure if your A&P gets creative he can do something with that cockpit
from a Cherokee Six... (and all this would make that new computer look
downright cheap)

If I've ever got the Pilatus over to Iowa, you and Mary are welcome to
rides,

Thanks,
Eric Bartsch

Thanks, Eric -- it was great to see you (and your wife and son) again!
I still can't believe you *drove* all the way from Ohio! ;-)

Just think -- you "flew" Version 1.0 of "the Kiwi". By this time next
week, we'll have Version 2.0 up and running, with a second video screen
and 10-times the processing power! You'll have to come back, soon.

If I've ever got the Pilatus over to Iowa, you and Mary are welcome to
rides,

We're gonna hold you to that!

Yeah, unfortunately it worked out best to drive this time. I did put
2.6 hours on the P-3 today after returning to Ohio, we had some of the
great weather here that Iowa has been having for the last few days. I'm
slowly getting to all of the airports in Ohio. So far I've got roughly
70 covered with a lot left to go.

Send pictures out as soon as you get the second monitor running.

I'll have to try to get over for the airshow in Iowa City next Summer
(schedule permitting).

Hey -- not to change the subject, but -- what's the latest with our
"little French girl"?

Perhaps she'd like to fly the Kiwi, too?

She spent Thanksgiving with our family.
She flew in around Noon on Friday. We picked her up at 12:30 PM and
dropped her off around 6:00 PM. She departed around 7:00 AM Saturday
morning.
She now has 300 hours in the ERJ 145. She has a line for the month of
December. This means she will fly the same route the entire month.
She is still enjoying it. She was trying to figure out how to take a
printer back with her.
We passed the afternoon discussing her airline life of the past six
months. American Eagle is having difficulty finding prospective pilots
to fill their classes. Upgrade time from FO to Captain is reported to be
eight years.

Tempting offer John. I'll have to seriously consider it. What are you
flying out of KOSU? I was down there a few months ago as I was passing
through the center of Ohio. We should pick an airport to gather the
Ohio members of rec.aviation at one of the $100 burger joints like
Mansfield or Urbana Grimes.

I flew a Cherokee Six 300 last Saturday to Cherry Hill Pheasant Farm for
the buffet.
Mansfield works for both of us.
I will send my email and phone via separate posting for future reference.

I'll watch for your message. I flew a club-owned Cherokee Six 300 for a
while while I lived in Cincinnati. Great plane.
