Didn't see anything about this in the archives.

Anyone with a recommendation/good experience to share?

My wife basically told me that I couldn't fly if I didn't have some life
insurance, so I went on a search. It's hard to find any life insurance
when you're 60, but I finally found a deal I could live with through
Pilot Insurance Center.

How do we get to the archives through Glider Pilot Net?

i used a broker named Bob Deighton that specializes in life insurance
for pilots. Very knowledgeable - was able to get a good policy thru
AIG with the appropriate riders for competition soaring. They
understood the nuances..

Google Groups is probably your best bet.

I went through that same exercise about a year ago and also ended up with
Pilot Insurance Center (PIC). They are good folk and know their business.

That said, just like any other large purchase, get three bids. The
difference in rates between my three bids was amazing! I didn't have any
particular problems finding three companies who were willing to quote me
insurance with an aviation rider.

If you are an AOPA member, be sure to check out their Insurance
Center. You can get an online quote from the carrier (IIRC Minnesota
Mutual). After that though, you do have to fill out a paper
application.

Judge for yourself if it's a good deal or not Lincoln Benefit an
Allstate affiliate has an aviation program GT Platinum. I applied and
was excepted in 2003. I was 50 y/o at the time single engine land
private pilot glider rated instrument rated, it costs me $100 per
month for $500,000. This is a 15 year policy at this rate. Seems to me
the conversation with the agent that sold this to me that they don't
care for commercial or better rated pilots for some reason (exposure).

Be very careful if you fly an "experimental". Many life insurance
policies deny all coverage when flying in experimental aircraft. If
you don't ask they may not tell you, but it may well be in the "small
print".

I went through this exercise as well. You need to be very
careful and speak to the ins. co. directly. The policy that
I bought said that the aircraft "must be certified by a
governmental agency". It does not say the FAA. Since my '
glider was certified by the country of origin, it was good
as far as they were concerned.
