Default Tucson OLC Challenge Registration

Pilot Registration Forms are now available for this event - shoot me
an e-mail if you need a copy. Brief details of the event follow:

Tucson Soaring Club wishes to invite pilots to participate in a
soaring meet this coming May.

When: Friday May 13th to Saturday May 21st, 2011

Whe El Tiro Gliderport, Marana, Arizona (25 miles Northwest of
Tucson, 100 miles south of Phoenix).

Goals: To encourage cross-country soaring by pilots of all skill
levels in a non-competitive environment.

Site: El Tiro Gliderport is located in a spectacular rural setting in
the Ironwood National Monument in Southern Arizona and experiences
soaring conditions amongst the best in the USA. May is a superb time
to soar in this area, with moderately hot temperatures and mostly
cloudless conditions. In May 2010, 125 flights longer than 300 km
were made from El Tiro during Club flights and during the Region 9
contest.

Eligibility: Participating pilots must have the minimum required
qualifications and experience to fly cross-country. Sailplanes must be
registered, possess a current and valid airworthiness certificate and
have proof of insurance.

Costs: A $25 registration fee to participate and a $50 guest
membership in Tucson Soaring Club. 2,000-foot aerotow will be $40.

Format: After a daily safety and weather briefing, individual pilots
or teams will be free to launch on an open schedule and fly in any
permitted airspace, returning to El Tiro by sunset.

Scoring: All flight logs shall be uploaded daily to OLC. The Meet
Committee will review all flights and give awards recognizing the best
and fastest flights of the day and the week.

Mike
